Preparing Your Trees for the Season Ahead
After what seems to be a never-ending summer, fall is right around the corner. Did you know that most of all the trees in our area can have their limbs pruned at any time of the year? It’s true, but most people like to have their trees pruned during the fall season.

The Spotted Lanternfly is in Loudoun County
It has been brought to our attention that the Spotted Lanternfly has arrived in the Loudoun area. We have seen adult Spotted Lanternflies first hand in the Leesburg area. They are quick and easily startled, but if you come across one, please try to kill it, take a picture of it and share it with us.

The Ambrosia Beetle Can Damage Your Trees
Unfortunately the Spotted Lanternfly isn’t the only insect we need to be concerned about this fall. There is another bug that can damage to your trees — the Ambrosia Beetle.

Tree Stump Trends
We have seen a growing trend among our clients who are choosing to leave their stumps high. When our clients need to take down a tree in their yard, they are then faced with an important decision: we either cut the tree down as low as possible or we use our stump grinder machine to completely remove the stump.

The Puss Caterpillar - Watch Out!
Back in 2020 we saw a larger than normal increase of puss caterpillars, Megalopyge opercularis. [1] These furry little bugs have a large range from Mexico to Maryland and all of the southern states in between. Sometimes these caterpillars are called ‘flannel moth’ or ‘Southern flannel moth,’ but most people know them as a ‘puss moth’ or a ‘furry puss moth.’

The American Chestnut
The American Chestnut is probably one of the most beloved trees native to North America. We all know (and sing!) that all-time favorite holiday song about roasting chestnuts on an open fire!
